According to Cnet Longhorn is the "biggest bet" of M$ since windows 95. So, I can say, between windows 95 and Loghorn, every OS are just inducement. M$ also making changes into visual studio and SQL server. Whao! are they tired of it or just thinking to create another set of languages? According to M$- the goal is to corral developers behind Longhorn. I still wonder how they are going to do it. As long as they asked programmers to wear tie suit in advertisement, they need to think about it.
M$ is going to introduce file & directory security which we're seeing in *nix for last 25 years. Ok! now it's a big factor, after all it took M$ 17 years to understand. But one thing for sure we're going to see few fabulas graphic works. They're really good with it. I think they deserve a oscar for it. Bringing WinFS is really good idea, but they could do it long before.
I like the following paragraph from Cnet:
"Microsoft's Achilles' heel has been security. (The company recently admitted that security fears were affecting its corporate sales.) With that in mind, a major focus of Longhorn will be on improving security, though exactly how Microsoft plans to do so without imposing draconian measures on users remains unclear.
Some changes may be apparent to users even now. For example, Microsoft is mulling whether to turn on the built-in firewall by default, and rumors are swirling that Longhorn will include its own antivirus program. It seems more likely, however, that the company will find a way to integrate existing antivirus utilities deeper into the OS to push more users to install and update them regularly. "
At one point I don't understand, M$ really egar to say about different aspects of the OS (mambo jambo). Whenever it comes to security it just shut it's mouth or may be they forget how to speak in english, they're using martian language, I need to learn that.
Another thing guys, did I tell you Mr. Gates is going to buy me a 6GHz PC at the time of Longhorn release. Umm! it's yummy, isn't it?
-DK.
