Suggestion for Ranking System

But I think Moni is right too. Computer related terms will be more right.

Considering all the suggestions I say we go with this below. This sounds computer related.

Rank based on posts:

Just In: 1 to 10 posts
User: 10 to 100 posts
Power User: 100 to 500 posts
Super User: 500 to 1000 posts
Part of the Core: 1000 and up

Besides those one can be assigned special ranks for extraordinary contributions. Because good threads and posts are qualities, they have to be judged manually and on individual basis, based on common sense.

Special ranks:

Genius
Wizard
QC Lover

Option for custom title can be messy and confusing if people start taking titles like Site moderator, qc admin etc.

If there is no objection or suggestion, within 24 hours of posting this message, I will go with this.

hi all it's my 50th posts, u can say 5oth birth day of my posts.......don't forget to congratulate me.

quantum, i still emphasize on creating rank by posts' weights not by posts numbers. i think if u read diff posts frm diff members than u will realize that increasing posts numbers isn't a fact, rather i think we need constructive, subjecting posts and we wants members participation and sharing of info in diff important sec like graphic, programming etc. see, if anything possible assigning weights to posts and then count them, it would b prefered to many members here.

and in ur special ranking, first and third is ok to me, but second one i.e. wizard isn't that much meaningful i think. right, now i've no words that i can suggest, if i can get any, i must let u know.

If I am not wrong then I think it won't be possible to put weights automatically (depending on the contents of the post) rather someone has to read the posts and judge manually which doesn't seem very practical to me.

I agree with Belal on the basis of ranking (by number of posts) to some extent. See my post in the PF.

As I said, it won't be possible to judge the quality of contents with algorithm. The most advanced algorithm has not reached that stage yet. The automatic ranking has to be based on post count.

i don't know why it is looking difficult.

what i just want diff weight for diff section. java, c++, vb, flash etc. all tec section should get heigher rank, than general disscussion should get a rank, introduction section should have diff weight........just like that.

count the post in each section and multiply it with the section weight........it looks to me so easy and simple. i m not emphasizing to contents. i m emphasizing to sections.

oh! i have another opinion. in some forum we see a list of best contributor (size may b 3, 5 or 10 etc). can we have it considering the rank stretegy.

That is a very good idea belal, now that you have cleared it. But it will take some time to implement.

Btw, wizard and genius are meaningful in their own ways.

A genius is someone capable of contributing unusual things in usual fileds. Like in Java or web.
A wizard contributes unusual things in unusual fields. Like, may be in hacking or OS.
