Thanks Mastermind. I am tempted to believe (for now) that this is my best work so far. Although, I know by the time (another 48hours may be) I get done with all of the pages of the site, I won't be able to stand to look at it. sigh...what a paradox.
But anyway, you seem to have this question, that I noticed you asking Ratul too. Thing is mastermind, we web designers have one very dominent thing to keep in our minds before any design works begin. And that is the target audience's screen resolution! Yes, there are still people who use 640 by 480 screen resolution(very few these days). A majority uses 800 by 600 screen resolution for their monitor and more and more people are moving towards 1024 by 768 resolution. But there it is. Before starting the design, we have to choose a least common denominator based on our target group. I believe over 75% people from Bangladesh still uses 800 by 600. Even some so-called designers. This just makes me wonder! I think the idea just never crossed their head that the screen resolution can be changed and a larger resolution would give them more workspace. Things also look better when there are enough empty room for the eyes. But anyway, the web sites I build look best in 1024 by 768 screen resolution. But I have to be careful that even in a 800 by 600 resolution there is no horizontal scrolling. So some space is wasted, it may seem in a 1024 by 768 resolution.
Now there are ways around this. Surely you have seen sites that adopt well when you make the window large or small. Yes, it is possible, but it works most well when there are lots of just text as a content. And most importantly when you do not want precise control over the positioning of the contents. But notice that even those sites keep the 800 by 600 rule in their head. They will start to scroll horizontally after you make a window smaller in width than 800.
Another option is, using Flash. Because it is vector based, it can adopt to any windows size. But Flash is not suitable for real professional and informational web sites yet. To show off design aptitude, yes it is perfect. But not for serious ecommerce or mass consumer based sites.
//added: I use 1280by 960 in a 21 inch flatron, so imagine how much I have to imagine to imagine how it may look in 800 by 600!! lol
