Hi there

I am dealing in Web development. I register a lot of sites in a day but fed up by filling the same information every time, registering my site on all the search engines. Please help me out with some suggestions, which can reduce the onus and this monotonous work without reducing the traffic.

Well, I take it that you are talking about submitting your existing web sites to search engines on a regular basis, right? Or you are talking about submitting new domains? There cannot be too many new domains that you can get tired of submitting to a few real worthy search engines and directories.

I can give you a definitive view of mine, but you need to clear up the question first.

It is really boring to fill all the information again and again to register a site on different search engine and make the web pages search engine friendly for different search engines. I have recently developed a new website. For getting listed in search engines I need to register my web site. Now if we are doing this for hundred or more search engines then it may take weeks, really a time consuming task and monotonous also. I have requested a solution to this. Why submit your site to search engines?

In short, it is totally unnecessary to submit to search engines. I never submit my new sites to search engines. They are automatically picked up, so long as some other sites, that are already indexed, are linking to me. You can and should however, submit your site to major directories, Specially dmoz. And for those, most of the time there is no alternative but to submit manually.

Yes, dmoz listing helps in google very much. Google uses dmoz's data. Also many other directories, since it is open source. Dmoz takes very long to list the website though. Make sure it is in the right category. Some times it takes upto a year.

You are right dude, about the lengthy time it requires to be added. I am an editor and I must say that most of it is the submitter's fault. They do not submit their site in the right category. Most often so many people try to spam dmoz. Submitting multiple times in many categories. providing a good description of the site also helps us. Besides that try to submit to a category that has an active editor. Many categories don't and they take the longest time. You can check out if a category has an editor at the bottom of every page. Most people don't know this, but you can check out the status of your dmoz submission by posting at this forum:
