Alright, let me try my hand on a simple yet very effective and eye catching effect in photoshop. Making a Zoom blurr on or around an Image. So far I have found two methods of making a zoom blurr in photoshop. Let us go with the easier one the first time. Both are easy though in reality. Easy enough even for the most beginner photoshop user!

Making zoom blurr in photoshop: Method 1:

1. Prepare your image. If the image you wish to give a zoom blurr effect is embedded in a background, you must seperate it from the background first. Use magnetic lasso or any other selection tool of your choice to select the part of image that you are going to give a zoom blurr effect. You do not need to be very precise. So don't waste too much time on it. Just get a rough outline. Now keeping the selection active, right click on the main layer and make new Layer Via Copy. Duplicate the new layer. We got our image to work on.

2. Now from the two new layers choose the top one. Open Filter - Blurr - Motion Blurr dialogue. Apply a blurr of 90 pixel at 180 degree angle.

3. Move the Top of the two layers to bottom of the two layers.

4. Move the bottom layers somewhat right or left as you wish.

5. And you are done. You can also try different blanding option for the blurr layer and see how it looks.

The second method uses photoshop single line selection tool and can be achieved as followed:

Making zoom blurr in photoshop: Method 2:

Take your image, and you drag it to the new layer button in the layer palette. Then you take the Single Column Marquee tool, then drag that line until you feel that that is where you want to start the blur. Then press Ctrl + T (transform tool) and just drag the middle little square to the way that the object is coming from. There you could leave it like that if you want, and that is also a nice little trick. But to make it look nice, click on the Add layer mask item in the layers palette, and click on the linear gradient, and drag a horizontal line to the object. Mess around with that and see what you get.
