What is the function of Slice in photoshop? How to to slice?

I see this tool in the tools menu on photoshop. Slice tool. I have'nt look into the documentation or anything. But if noone minds can he please explain briefly what is the use of slice tool in photoshop? How to best use it? What is slice good for? I would rather learn from you guys then somewhere else.

Well You made a great question! Adobe Photoshop is the one and only great image editing tools in this world. And with in their some great tools Slice is the one. Anyway....It is generally use for website. Like when we browse website then we see that some big image is downloading with some diffrent parts and when we want to rightclick and save image then it is not saving the full image. Cause it has been slices with some parts or pieces for faster browsing on slower internet connection.

That is very helpful! I did not know anything about that. Now I know. I tried it and it is so easy! Photoshop even generates the html with table for the image! With link and everything! Nice.
