Thanks for the suggestion and offer. That's a nice idea, but I think, it is preposterous to start a new forum with just one person interested. Currently linux related topics are being discussed in the Networking...linux forum. If there are at least 5/6 people really interested in talking about it then it is sensible to start a new forum on it. So let us wait till we find some more linux interested people.

//Topic moved to appropiate forum.

We had a linux forum in the beginning, but it was not getting much responses. That is why it was merged with the networking forum. I don't see why we should start it again unless there are good reason to do so.

Today..linux getting popularity day by day...in the world..but not in Bangladesh...cause..most of the people don't know much about this operating systems....I think here should be a new forum for Linux..it doesn't matter...how many people show interest at first....I think it will take places in future...when people get some news from this forum!!!
All I can say at last that, We should help people to know about this outstanding operating systems.

Hasnat, I appreciate your view and it is a noble one. Unfortunately, I have learned the hard way that it is no longer true that if you build it they will come. They don't come. They have no interest to talk about such complex stuffs. Frankly, how much experience you have on linux yourself? How many messages would you be posting in the linux forum? I doubt you have installed linux in your machine. You won't know the system and will find nothing to say about it. I spawn another forum in linux direction, it will just be sitting there empty. We need at least a few people to get it going. I don't see any ONE here ready to talk about linux. If here were we would be hearing them in the existing forum.

Not to insult anyone, but I doubt that we would be seeing many posts from aronnok in any forum either, let alone Linux.

I have no problem starting a new forum. It's just a few clicks to create a new one. What I hate is to see a forum sitting there empty no one talking. Why, would'nt you think, there would be more Java programmer interested in Java forum then Linux? Why is there so few posts in Java forum?

If you want a Linux forum, post in the networking...linux for the time being. If there are enough posts to justify a seperate forum we will have it. Just move the posts in the new forum in a snap.

the reason behind my proposal was just to help the people around BD. Coz, when i was in trouble with this unique OS, there was not a single person out there to help me, to solve the problem. i had to learn those things by myself alone.
thats why i have come up with an idea that, people who are trying to learn, who are working on different ISP's....can put their probs on that forum. Me, along with some of my friends will defenately try to solve the prob.

its my sujjestion.....the rest is upto the Moderators.

BTW, Future is Linux !! we all know it.
and the fact is, the linux community of bangladesh, bdlug, is not capable of creating the effect.
so.........why not WE?

WHY NOT?

Nice point aronnok. Bdlug was a failure, because of a poor interface. It did'nt even have a own customized forum. The yahoo discussion group is a lousy way to conduct a serious dicussion group.

As I said, I am all for a linux forum. Very much so. What I fear is the lack of participation. If you can bring in some people to talk about Linux, I will start it.

In fact, so be it, we will create a Linux forum on a tentative basis. How long it will exist, depends on the number of quality posts.

@quantum
Abosulutely....I'm not using..Linux right now...But I had installed it several times but I had to remove it for two reasons......

1. I know nothing about this operating much
2. That time no graphic software had been made for Linux like...Photoshop,maya..

But now maya has been realesed and photoshop is comming soon...and macromedia also..joined Linux...so in future all softwares will be availbe at this platform...so i had made a suggestion for this operating systems...you can made a forum for all operating systems or renaming the exists forum "Bangladesh Networking......"
Ofcourse all will be want to move with Linux when maximum softwares will available for this platform...but we have to learn from now..cause that days are coming very fast!!!
