Many of us have this problem. Windows 2000 is popular to those of us who want a secure envirenment and run servers. But it has a very annoying lacking. Windows 2000 has no msconfig program that we are so accustomed to from windows 98,ML, or XP. Here is the solution to use the msconfig in windows 200. It is handy because you can easily disable programs from starting up with windows. If you don't know where to find the program or it doesn't have an option to not run at startup it's almost impossible to elliminate.
Microsoft added this back in XP. You can work this one of two ways. If you have access to an XP machine you can copy msconfig.exe to your Win NT or Win2K machine in the System32 folder.
If you don't have access to an XP machine you can download the zip file from thetechguide.com -

Again, unzip the file and copy it to System32. It will execute in Start|Run like anything else in the System32 folder will.
