I heard your complaint dude. So here is my new photoshop tutorial.
How to create a rocky landscape pattern in photoshop.
1. Open up photoshop
2. Create a 800x600 file, create new layer (layer1)
3. Apply Filter --> Render ---> Cloud
4. Apply Filter ---> Render ---> Different Cloud
5. Apply Filter --> Render ---> Cloud again
5. Go to channels panel, Ctrl+Click on Red chanel, to load the selection from Red chanel
6. Click on "Save selection as Channel" (the 2nd button from the left, at the bottom of the channels panel) , now we have a new channel, Alpha 1.
7. Go back out to layers panel, click on layer 1.
8. Apply filter ---> Render ---> Lighting effects, there are the photoshop settings:
Light Type: Directional
Intensity: 35 (white)
Properties: White
Gloss: 100
Material: Metallic 69
Exposure: 2
Ambience: -3
Texture Channel: Apha1
White is High
Height: 100
9. Ctrl+U, check colorize, and play around with the 3 bars, till you get something pleasing.
10. Edit ----> Define pattern
