Well guys, I have long been frustrated about the quality of Bangladeshi websites. I mean what is it with 90% of web developers of Bangladesh? Look at those sites. Horrible and ugly. I mean comon, they look like they were done by kids. Though slowly, very slowly I guess the trend is getting better. So anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to review the websites of the Bangladeshi web design companies and express our opinion on what they are doing wrong.

In this series, first I would like to review Drik. Drik has been online for a while. And as you can see from their portfolio, they have done a number of client websites.

So what is wrong with Drik? Or what part of their own website they did right?

Nothing to say any good about this site without the information. I agreed abouth the comments that...an information base website doesn't required quality graphics but still I have to say....some minimum quality should be given. My critics are as below....

Quote:

1. Webmaster only know how to link another page and put text or graphic.
2. The choice Of Drik Management Team (Very Old Traditional).
3. In The Photo Library Section No Mouse Rollover(How People Know There Is A Larger Image?)
4. There is no alignment....atleast the page should be appear in middle of the browser.
5. Very poor webhosting..so webpages comes very slow while some of images are optimized.
6. At last Graphic combination is very poor..may be they have no graphic specialist...and I'm very sure after visiting some of there multimedia portofolio.

At this moment I have not enough time to visit the whole website...but few of my visit these are all I can say about them. Hope they will understand what they need.

Nice take hasnat. Yes, it is expected that a web design company should maintain a minimum standard. Drik falls below that standard. Although, I do not agree that this is an information based website. This is a portfolio website whose main purpose is to impress the surfers with its design capability both in online and offline. Drik miserably fails in that. Well, drik does animation job with flash, drik does photography and video integration. But not a part of the website indicates that Drik is any good at what it does.

Now look at the technical parts. Try to access drik.com(no www). You will stumble on an apache error page. They are redirecting www.drik.com to drik.net but forgot to take care of the drik.com. I guess they have no idea that the dns mapping of www.site.com and site.com is totally different.

And those frames! Whoever has the slightest knowledge in SEO or professioanl web design use frame these days? Only a 10 year old kid would do that. I won't go into the details on why frames are stupid. Here is an article that I wrote on this.

Why frames are evil

Basically they don't even need that stupid frame anyway. All the links are already there in the left menu (except for a link to the home page, from the sub pages!). And the drik internet section has a totally different design from the rest of the site. Bad idea to surprise the users with a sudden change in layout.

I wonder how they managed to get to sell their crappy services to so many clients.

Simple ican be sometimes beautiful. But only when you know what you are doing. Drik is simple and childish not because it wanted to be artistically simple but because drik did'nt know any better.

Their index page's source code does not have any meta tag even. But they got thousands of keuword meta tag in framed internal pages. So what is going to happen for people who follow links from a search engine and get to those internal pages without the bottom frame? What is the use of bottom frame then? The code is not optimised either. [http://www.drik.net/html/audiovisual.htm] has 30 lines of code from dreamweaver image swap javascript, but that was never used once!
