Great to have you back aronnok.

I don't think wondows can do that. It seems to be an awesome trick! How about file system? Can the linux running from CD save files in the FAT or NT file system? Or all this does is running some command line utilities?

Sorry my friend if I hurt you. The limited knowledge I have on linux says that linux uses a different file system than windows. So my primary question os how this distro handles the FAT/NT file system. How they managed to do it? On the other hand, if it can't handle the windows file system then you cannot save any file while on this version of linux. Correct me if I am wrong. I totally agree that this is a great achievement though. Gentle smile

By the way the new qnx can be found at http://www.qnx.com and might find old floppy version.

I decided to drop few lines here.

@Quantum

Yes you can do that writing to your hard-drive while running a Linux OS from CD-ROM. If you're using Linux kernel older than 2.6 then you can only access FAT file system of your hard drive. In order to access NTFS you need to download extra modules from Internet and need to tweak your kernel-as this is not the option here.

In order to use access your FAT file system from older than 2.6 kernel follow the steps:

Quote:
1. mkdir /mnt/win
2. check your hard disk FAT location with "fdisk -l"
3. Suppose you have FAT system on /dev/hda2 [I assuming that you have IDE hard disk]
4.mount /dev/hda2 -t vfat /mnt/win
5. Now if you goto "win" directory you can see the files of that drive. You can read-write there with read-write permission enable.
6.In order to create directory under /mnt you have to have "su" permission.

Now if you use kernel 2.6 then you can access NTFS too. The facility is built-in into the kernel. If you want to know more about it then please go through the following website. Heap of information there.
