I know I can serach it up. But just wanted to know your opinion. Has anyone had any experience with a chatroom? I want one preferably in PHP. But if you think java based one would be better express your opinion too. Just want to hear some first hand experience with chat rooms.

I have not worked with without IRC, I didn't see that you don't want to use java.

But you if only plan to build or use PHP and mysql then its should not be the right choice.

Best would be php+myslq+flash

If you can pay $5 for a script then you can get php+mysql+flash chat script with highly powered site. But for flash Brandwith matters.

Here is a Php mysql flash based chatroom. Works with most PHP-based CMS systems, or as a stand-alone chatroom. Can be used in a live-support configuration, too.
