OpenFX is an Open-Source 3D modeling, animation and rendering suite created by Dr. Stuart Ferguson. Looks good to me. For those who cannot afford a 3d software can use this. Has some impressive and powerful features.

What can OpenFX do?

A powerful feature-set includes a full renderer and raytrace engine, NURBS support, kinematics-based animation, morphing, and an extensive plugin API.

Plugin capabilities include image post processor effects such as lens flare, fog and depth of field. Animation effects such as explosions, waves and dissolves add enormously to the flexibility of the program.

What platforms does OpenFX run on?

Currently, OpenFX only runs on the Win32 platform, which includes Windows 95/98/NT/2000. There are plans afoot to port it to Linux/*BSD platforms, and it currently runs fairly well under these by using the WINE set of libraries. If you are interested in helping to port to these platforms, please join our Development Mailing Lists and help out!

That is good. I was wondering if there was some easy 3d program that has many template like animations already built into it and I can customize it little. Does anyone know of any such software?

emm,

I believe, what you are looking for is Swift3d. Check out www.swift3d.com and try to get the software.

illusionist,
I have some flash files that has keyframe animation of male and female walking and running. Do you know flash? If you do you can export the animation as bmp files and later import back to a 3d program and do what you wish with them. Problem is Flash is 2d not 3d. Let me know if you can work with those.

Hello quantum,
Actually I am doing some skeletal animation in which I need keep data of human body parts rotation, transformation for each move. I think exporting the animation as bmp files and later importing back to a 3d program would work if you can supply me 3 view for each keyframe(doesn't matter male or female),like front, left and top view.Or some website may be helpful which has resources like these.

Sorry, the flash files don't have 3 dimensional views.

Which 3d program are you using? What file format would you like them in? I will ask a few people.

I m working with that same old good-for-nothing openGL.
Any picture format (bmp, jpg, gif)will do for me.
I tried google image search, but found only images for running sequences,no other moves.

hmm...! That will be a tough thing to get. I will ask. But I think, you can do better to use a 3d program like Lightwave/Maya. Then import a human model....wait! How could I forget this! Go and get Poser NOW. Get that and you won't have to ask anything more.

Hasnat works a lot on 3d. If he drops by I am sure he can give you more tips. But once you install poser and take a look I don't think you will need anything else. Or ask me again if you can't figure that out.

Ok i will try poser. But I am using a 3d program named milkshape 3d.I am drawing all parts of human body like hand, arm, leg in separate files (not as a single human model) using milkshape, loading them in my c++ program and then rendering them in the screen in appropriate position so that it looks like a whole human body. So now if i can get the keyframes of human move for example runing i can adjust the position of human body parts and then render them so that it seems like that human body as a whole is running. As you can see i am not doing the animation using 3d program, rather doing it thorugh my c++ program, will poser help?I will try it though.

You want a keyframe animation of a human model, and poser can give you that. Actually as I remember, poser has a built in running/walking animation sequence to render. You can analyze the sequence in poser itself in 3 dimensional plane or export it anyway you wish. I think, that'd work for you.
