Getting Smarty working

Hello all,
Do anyone of u know how to use smarty in linux platform ? I already downloaded it and unzipped it. But have no idea of how to get it working? Need Some help here.

Smarty is so much popular now a days. Most of the php app now adding smarty with they system.

you can use smary in windows platform, why you need to use it in linux?

If you go with some samples you will get the idea how it works. and its easy to work with it.

dear hasnut,
All files in www.smarty.php.net/download.php are in linux zip format like smarty-2.6.6.tar.gz. Thats why I choose linux and already got rid of the installation part. but from where will I get the windows format?

I put my lib files in /var/www/smarty dir and templates in /var/www/html/smarty/guestbook

Another question to ask :
in manual it says to use seperate set of those directories for each applications and in my recently seen examples they always used the files index.php,index.tpl. Can I make as many templates as I like in /var/www/html/smarty/guestbook/templates folder and php files in /var/www/html/smarty/guestbook/

You can unzip it through winrar. So there is no reason that you can't run it at windows as because of its zipped with tar format.

Yes its ok ITs not a problem you need to set lib path also the template path in your php

Yes you can create as many template as you like.
