Post subject: My special interest
Aside from tech issues, I have two more fields that I am extremely interested in. One is philosophy and another is Superstring theory or Theory of Everything.
In philosophy, my special interest is metaphysics. And the most interesting question to answer is whether as an agent human beings have any free will at all? I say no. If anyone interested to talk about it post your opinion.
TOE or theory of everything is the final frontier for human knowledge. Anyone have any idea on what the quest is about? _________________

Post subject: Philosophy
DK,
I have not read the book. I did a search and skimmed through what it is about. Seems like it became a best seller as a basic history of the philosophers and some introductory theories. Which is very good. It is not surprising that though most people do not want to do the thinking, they like to read the lives and thinkings of the people who did. It has kind of a fascination of reading a heroic thriller. Though I doubt those philosophers had really enjoyed the adventures. For example, take my favorite nihilist Nietzsche. There are very few people who lived such painful life as him. But it is certainly thrilling to read his life story. But how many would like to read "Beyond good and evil"? Or "Thus spoke zarathustra" and try to realize the endless void he is talking about.
But sophie's world kind of book does serve the purpose of making ppl curious about the questions. Those who are capable, usually take the lead from there and get into more serious readings. A primary must read book after this stage is Plato's Republic. This basically lists in the form of dialogues between socretes and the town ppl and sophists, all the questions of philosophy. From Ethics to epistemology, religion, state, and metaphysics.
Yes, history of philosophy is thrilling, adventurous, exciting, intriguing. But when you think seriously it is also laboring, painful, despairing. Because for some of the seminal questions, the quest is trapped into a cul-de-sac. There are too many paradoxes, wrong leads. And worst of all our limitations as human beings in the way of realizing the truths. Our beliefs standing in the way of understanding and accepting. _________________

You're right. Right now we're becoming a device of making money. Why is that? We get that lesson from the begining of our lives. We don't like to search the deaper meaning of our existence. If you ask a hot-shot young man, he will say-oh! wasting time. A very few people do that. Most of the people like to make a profit from it. And religion is playing a bigger roll now a days, which is destorying thinking cabability in a human being as I believe.
Shopie's world is a very good start, I read it when I was in Europe. Still have it. Funny thing is that I found it in a dustbin, lol, somebody threw it. _________________ ...we too are stardust...

This one should be easy to answer. Tell you my opinion. Evulotion is not done with us yet. What are we? Half driven by emotions generated by hormone secrations, half by reasons. Half animals, half rationale beings. And what is the purpose of animal lives? To breed, to feed, to live comfortably. Anything more than that requires extra labor. Those are the basics, the rest are just becoming a bigger part of the consciousness. To have those basics, you need to have money. How long evulotion took to develop the neantherdal? And from there to this human form? How long the universe existed and human civilizations? The numbers will clearly say that we are still in most parts, like primitive animals. Why, can't you tell from the lusty look of a hot-shot young human male species to the opposite sex?
A second line of my pondering is that this trend to teach to follow a strict and certain line and becoming a certain kind of man in the eyes of the so called society, is a form of control. This has good sides and bad sides. The good side is that, truly, above 90% of the people just do not have the capacity (no insult intended) to think for themselves. So a system of control is good. Just follow the system, and you will at least find one niche or other to barely live your life. The bad part is, this form of control make those rare 8-10% people's lives much harder. They have to relent to the system, be a part of it, act accordingly it. It won't matter if their intentions and efforts are ultimately good for the system. Just because they decide to think for themselves and choose to deny some parts of the systems, the whole system will react against them one way or other.
And religion is playing a bigger roll now a days, which is destorying thinking cabability in a human being as I believe.
Now a days? It had always been the opium for the gullibles. After all, you get a ready made set of rules to follow. Follow them and you are guranteed a animalistically blissfull life in eternal haven. Forever and ever. Hell, religions provides the most comfortable and easy feeling one can have on this earth. THESE ARE THE RULES. JUST FOLLOW THEM. YOURS IS NOT QUESTION THE REASON WHY. So what else you want? No thinking necessary. Somebody has already done it all for you and is watching over you. You are safe in this world from cyclones and poverties and hungers. And you are safe in the other world too from the enemies of religions who dared to ask questions.
I read it when I was in Europe. Still have it.
Bring it with you, please.
no thanks cause you're making my life hell, try to keep up my study,
I figured you would be curious. I rarely discuss these things in public, except for in a few philosophy forums. Mostly because my ideas may seem downright controversial to most people for one thing. For another, I find it useless to debate with someone who still argues against evulotion in favor of creationism. All the doors and windows of their minds are just closed. The scary thing is that they won't ever think about opening them.
I need to do something about it.
I do not wish to make you follower of my line of thinking. But ask me if you have ANY question coming to your mind. I can show a short cut to where to look for the answers or no-answer for that matter.

DK,
Now I see that my second post kind of reads like I was putting you in the usual mass and accusing you for reading sophie's world. I beg your pardon. It was certainly not directed to you specifically. I was speaking very generally. In the moment I was thinking mostly about why the book became a best seller and in that line.

Camus heh! You trigerred the right swtich brother. Camus, like Sartre was an existential philosopher. Existential philosophy is a variation of parent philosophy, nihilism. Nietzsche was the forefather of Nihilism. There is simply too much to say about this for me. I will start a seperate thread on this. You know what, I intend to write a whole series of original articles on this subject. Give me some time, so that I can sit down kooly. _________________
