Convert Big Avi to Mpeg?

I tried to convert large avi files, and the conversion went fine, but the sound didn't match up.
Can anyone recommend any software that won't screw up the sound when converting?

I have always used Ulead media studio video editor for video editing. It works nice for me. But your problem does not seem to be one of the video editor's. The audio is not properly synchronised probably because of the difference in frame rate and kbps you are compressing the movie in. Try to complress in the original frame rate of the movie. Also play around little bit to strike a balance between compression and quality. Another thing to try is use DIVX codec instead of normal mpeg. Divx gives a much better quality for a small file size.

Well...you didn't mention how you have covert the file....today for this process..two software is widely used in the industry..and they are..

1.Main Concept Mpeg Encoder
2.Sorenson Media

I recommend you to make use of vidflash's video convertion service. All what you need is to register and send them a video that you want to be converted. Usually they send back converted video after 15-20 min. Its very convenient service and you dont need any codec or software purchasing.
