Hi forum!

I just designed a new portfolio site: www.2ice.ca
It'd be awasome if you guys have a deep look at the site and give me some critique.

You can talk about anything, including concept, color, typography, other design issues, content, animations , usability issues-whatever you want.

And, don't forget to welcome me in this forum.

Cheers!

~Hira

First of I like welcome you to our forum.

I was checking your site. Here goes some critics:

As I can see that total site is in flash. So, you could show the home page wihout clicking on enter button. As you know first impression last longer.

IN regarding SEO, google bot can't read content from flash. So, if you want your site to rank in google, better use html + flash based.

Fonts look cool. But over all color look dim and can't see it clearly (as i use glasses). Try to use some bright font color. Such as orange or white. Both go well with black color. Flash design looks good. But Better color combination would make it much better.

If you want low bandwidth people to browse your site, then u must develop 2 version of the site. Html & flash version. As, I believe most BD people don't have such bandwidth to view flash site.

If you're thinking to represent yourself as a professional then I guess you need to pour more contents in your sites. Specially, in resume section. If it's just a personal site with no future tie, then it's ok.

That much I can see now. Keep up the good works.

Hi Dinangkur.

Thanks for your welcome message, time and kind feedback. Your points are noted for further change in my site.

Anyway, I kept that "enter"-button-page to put more option...I mean, I will make two version of site..one for hi-speed users and another one is for low-bandwidth users (so that they can choose one from that splash page, which is almost blank now except one enter button). My primary target audience uses Hi-speed and lives in North America tho (IT professionals).

I'm not much concerned about ranking in google or other search engines, as - 1. there are bandwidth issues involved, so I want less traffic at the moment for some reasons [sounds weird, eh? :)] and 2. it is merely a personal portfolio site....

I agree that colors look dim...But the problem is my total concept wants it to be dark..In another forum I mentioned it as Dark intoxication like Baudelaire's poems.

I'll definitely work on font color. May be, font face as well, since most people are demanding that too.. Sounds might give some boost on the intro.. etc. etc. ...the list goes on and on..

However, I've failed to understand your following statement:

You meant in my site, right? ("in your sites" made me confused..I think you were in a hurry and that was a typo..that's ok. It always happen to me as well)

Yeah, of course I want to make a professional site (so, it doesn't look like a professional site yet :( ). And, that is exactly why I do care for your critiques. Hence, would be glad if you tell me what you meant by pouring more content in resume section?

I was thinking all these time that, my resume section is too loaded with contents. I agree My portfolio section needs more description for the each project I did. So, you meant portfolio segments, or some other section, or resume? (You want me to get more certificates to add there, eh? :) j/k.. ) Can you kindly explain? That'd be really really helpful.

Hope you didn't mind for my long post and all these questions.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I mean you need to focus on the projects that u did, also in your resume - what kind of expertises u have. Certification is not needed, casue professionals don't care about that, as long as you can do smart jobs for them. So, you better focus on both points. I think that's clear your confusion. Another thing I recommend - get a domain. It doesn't cost that much and you can host in your home PC if you have DSL connection with LAMP server. Think about it.
