I have an online military and socio-economic forum. Could you guys please visit the forum and give your opinion on:

1. Colour scheme and

2. Forum layout.

The colour scheme is reflective of our national flag and I have made all the banner, buttons, forum indicators etc. using the same theme. Your feedback will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Here goes my review about your site............................

The Good:

1. something good discussion there.

The Bad (Only about design and forum protection):

1. This is one of the worst forum design I have ever seen.
2. Why you people love Bangladesh in that way? Yeah after observing you old people all I can say is..you guys are color blind!!! or only can see Red and Green or wanna prove that without you people Bangladesh is nothing or We don't care about Bangladesh.
3. So, stop this non sense things.
4. There is many way to show your true love about Bangladesh.
5. And plz don't try to actually never try to insult Bangladeshi Flag.
Cause the flag has its own size and color. And your color and size (aspect ration 10:6) are not matched with Bangladesh flag.
6. Ask a good designer to do the job for you.
7. For kind of you people Bangladesh is here..all thing you guy wants to get free!!!!
8. Is it essential to make the design for yourself? when you know nothing about it. Only can copy and paste some codes from free scripts site.
9. What is the benifit for the members when they are forcing to registration for protected forum? I think you planned to sell e-mail!!!
9. If I goes for the rest..then quantumcloud will losses it's webspace and badwidth..cause it will not end.


Sorry guys..I can't controll myself.. when i see someone insult our nation by this way.......we should know that what are we gonna do? Otherwise..this kind of thing will happen.

Yours was a juvenile outburst rather than a forum/website review. This section of the forum is for reviewing other sites not hate mongering. If you cannot do constructive criticism and resort to ad-hominem then why do you even bother to reply?

I would have appreciated your post had it specified the flaws of BDSDF and provided a set of recommendations to alleviate the problem areas. Alas! you chose to resort to name callings such as "you old people", "colour blind" etc instead. It is easy for kids like you to bad mouth on the net and get away with it. Would you have the audacity to say the things that you have in your post if we meet in Dhaka? I guess not. You don't know what I do and my background.

BDSDF is not a restricted forum. It is open for all. Only three sections of the forum are restricted for guests. Almost 90% of the forum is open to the guests. Selling e-mails is a job for those people who have no education/skill and money. I don't have to stoop to that level for my living.

I pay a hefty amount for the hosting services and domain names. I get NOTHING FREE. The forum design can be done using the features in the AdminCP of the forum. So, I did not bother to hire a professional.

Yes, recommendations on the colour scheme and layout can be obtained from the experienced people and that's precisely why I have initiated this thread. Now, some recommendations may come as free gifts and some may cost money. I am willing to pay for the service if it suits my requirement.

Never question my patriotism just because the forum design is bad. Consider it a warning.

This is getting out of hand. Please use proper langauges and avoid personal attacks. Both of you. It seems to me everyone is too blinded by his love of motherland to forget civility.

Anyways, here are my two cents. Content-wise the site has very good potential and I am glad to see so much participations. Design wise the site is very poor. The top banner is not sized properly and does not tile, so in a screen with high resulotion, the blusish background behind the BD flag's image shows up. Looks really bad. Even with 1024 by 768, it is visible. Bad bad graphics for the logo and all the buttons. Forum titles' texts do not contrast well at all with the row background. Like "Members introduction". Since a pre made forum is being used, there is not much else to comment on.

Even if you could make some modifications from your admin panel, you should know that this is very limited. To really customize it, you have to delve into the template files and should possess adequate knowledge about html and graphics stuffs and also how the template files work with invision. If you don't want to get into the technicalities, hire some professional or use a ready made template.

I cannot make a radical change to the existing forum design because of my paucity of knowledge in HTML and Graphics. I can be termed as a beginner HTML and Graphic user. One other thing, Invision does not allow a radical change to its software. It's against their policy.

I can use your help in certain areas. These are as follows:

1. Making a suitable banner for the forum
   
2. Making eye-catching logo, and buttons
   
3. Selecting a new forum skin

If your organization provides such services, could you please discuss the monetary dimension with me? If I am to hire a professional then I'll hire a Bangladeshi brother. Just let me know.

Ps: Do you know of a site that provides ready made templates? Are they customizable? I may ask for your recommendations to choose a template/forum skin for my forum. Thank you.

Customizing the template files are not what one would call a radical change. The primary aim behind the template system is to allow the forum admins to let the look of it change in most ways. If you have a license to IPB, you can custmize the template to your heart's contents.
