Post Post subject: How intelligent are you? IQ Test. Reply with quote

Ever wanted to find out if you were a genius or not? Or what is your intelligent quotent? Take this free workout from Mensa:

It won't be be an official confirmation. But it will give you an idea. And if you feel confident you can take the real test from a certified institue or even from Mensa. Paid service of course.

If you are wondering what is MENSA, I will just quote from their site:

Quote:
What is Mensa?

Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities.

What are Mensa's goals?

Mensa has three stated purposes: to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity, to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence, and to promote stimulating intellectual and social opportunities for its members.

How many members does Mensa have?

Today there are some 100,000 Mensans in 100 countries throughout the world. There are active Mensa organizations in over 40 countries on every continent except Antarctica. Membership numbers are also available for specific National Groups.

What kind of people are Members of Mensa?

There is simply no one prevailing characteristic of Mensa members other than high IQ. There are Mensans for whom Mensa provides a sense of family, and others for whom it is a casual social activity. There have been many marriages made in Mensa, but for many people, it is simply a stimulating opportunity for the mind. Most Mensans have a good sense of humor, and they like to talk. And, usually, they have a lot to say.

Mensans range in age from 4 to 94, but most are between 20 and 60. In education they range from preschoolers to high school dropouts to people with multiple doctorates. There are Mensans on welfare and Mensans who are millionaires. As far as occupations, the range is staggering. Mensa has professors and truck drivers, scientists and firefighters, computer programmers and farmers, artists, military people, musicians, laborers, police officers, glassblowers--the diverse list goes on and on. There are famous Mensans and prize-winning Mensans, but there are many whose names you wouldn't know.

What does "Mensa" mean?

The word "Mensa" means "table" in Latin. The name stands for a round-table society, where race, color, creed, national origin, age, politics, educational or social background are irrelevant.

What opinions does Mensa have?

Mensa takes no stand on politics, religion or social issues. Mensa has members from so many different countries and cultures with differing points of view, that for Mensa to espouse a particular point of view would go against its role as a forum for all points of view. Of course, individual Mensa members often have strong opinions--and several of them. It is said that in a room with 12 Mensans you will find at least 13 differing opinions on any given subject.

How do I qualify for Mensa?

Membership in Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score within the upper two percent of the general population on an approved intelligence test that has been properly administered and supervised. There is no other qualification or disqualification for membership eligibility.

The term "IQ score" is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile (a score that is greater than or equal to 98 percent of the general population taking the test) on a standard test of intelligence.

Generally, there are two ways to prove that you qualify for Mensa: either take the Mensa test, or submit a qualifying test score from another test. There is a large number of intelligence tests that are "approved". More information on whether a test you have taken is approved, as well as information on the procedure for taking the Mensa test, can be obtained from the nearest Mensa office. There are no on-line tests that can be used for admission to Mensa. Feel free to contact Mensa for specific details about eligibility.

Mensa has no other eligibility requirements other than IQ testing. However, many tests are not valid for people under the age of 16. You should contact the nearest Mensa office for more information.

How do I get proof of my test scores?

Contact the testing service requesting that they send you a report showing your score. Include as much of the following information as you can. If you can't give an exact answer, an approximation is better than nothing. Many testing services charge a fee for sending reports; you should give the service a call before writing them.

For school testing, write to the school you attended, and ask for a CERTIFIED copy of your score. It must include your birth date, the name of the test, and a clearly defined number, i.e., IQ, or percentile rank nationally. Mensa does not accept achievement tests. The school seal must be stamped on the report.

For psychologist/agency testing, have the report sent on professional letterhead, with the psychologist's or agency's license or registration number. Mensa accepts only tests given by those people qualified to do testing privately in the state in which the examiner resides. Date of test, name of test, and full score must be given, and the report must be signed.

A notarized copy of any of the reports will be accepted, non-notarized copies may be rejected.

And if MENSA Intelligent test seems too hard for you, try out these easier ones. :)

I do not feel any need to feel low compared to Einstein. I know I am not a genius. I am very happy with that.

Someone called Socretes once said, "Know thyself." Unless you know the true nature of yourself, your knowledge is never complete.

I understand that it is important to know yourself. But i have doubt how important it is to kow what my IQ number is. Those tests are not accurate and just an IQ number means little, I think.

why would anyone ever wish to take that IQ??? it is nothing but some dumb stuffs.... they don't test you on everything ...they test you on some things and based on that test they tell
how you will do on other field....
anyway....
....i don't think the people who made that test is smart becasue they themselves maybe unable to something we normal people can do.......
.... i wouldn't mind to give you the site address though.... but i forgot ...i didn't write it up when our english teacher gave us in class.... after reading that "flowers for algernon" ....book....
i thought that test is worthless.... nothing but junk....
................................our school banned that test.............................if we want we can take it though........... in private....can't tell how so lovely smart person you are .... becasue that hurt others ...and make them feel inferior...not my words brothers.....that's why our school banned it.... you know....

....read that book i would say...excellent science fiction book....i was shock by it....and it actually deals with IQ test....

I completely agree with payel. There are more things to judge a man than IQ test. Like emotional maturity, his character, his kindness etc. etc. Specially if any site tries to tell you how you will do in the future based on a stupid IQ test then the site is crap IMHO.

you are right dude... ... that's what my classmates and teachers argued about too... one minute the website doesn't have all the things of the written one ... you absolutely right to say that they don't know your emotional field.... sure they don't.... and rest of it too...........

someone maybe good in this field not in other .... if they were to be good in all the field..then this world would have been gone long ago....because no one will talk to each other or have contact with each other...like me...i wouldn't come to this site if i knew had one like it...............

bye now................................... that test is nothing but stupid just to fool people and give power to one group and torturing other.....that's all............................

Once IQ test was finding genius people, a good deed while capitalist venture of present time defines it as a tools to corrupt basic nature of general people. So, they feel the fear and stuck them upto certain level. I heard US is the heaven for all this creepy thingy. I never been there, so my information can be incorrect. Though in our country it doesn't matter.

as far as i know US is banning those creepy things and they are even trying to ban Advance placement and honor class since that makes some students feel inferior and therefore don't feel like studying hard and so on but some parents stopped it and they changed the plan and so on. however, US is losing its reputation quite on those field becuase the quality of education is sinking down very fast ...not my words but Elder Gorge one of the social and something else worker and so on ..i read it in the newspaper just a few days ago. and the banning advance placement thing was told by my SAT english teacher who attanded that meeting ... as far as i know . she told us in our class.

that IQ is sure creepy, you can say that again.

That's a very new information. I heard US is the best place to study, if anybody wants to know. Whao! then europe is far better than that. As I have seen. Generally, education is not about aquaring knowledge these days, it is solely a business to make large amount of money. As they always do. Where the world is heading?

i think you can say that world is heading to HELL. it won't be surprise at all. education is like what you said and elder gorge said, it is only about making money, they teach us only how to use this knowledge to make money not to think. in some of my classes, our teacher would did you know these of science and history and politics, and everyone would say NO, then the teacher would show a face of surprise and say WoW, what do you guys learn in classes? nothing! what does your teacher teach? nothing. actually they don't really teach anything else except what is required for exams, that's very ture, our teacher used to say, you don't need to know it because it won't be in any test and so on.
my US history teacher would say the NY education system is sinking down because of money short and therefore they are making all these crazy system to score exam papers. actually they do. really, math is mad down in here, you will find almost no student of USA who is good in that field they simpy hate it except the student from other countries like me, chinese, russia and so on. US education good maybe was but not so too much maybe now. europe i don't know. i was never there. maybe someday will be. if you read a poem by a student of USA, you would be surprise who was thrown out of school along with a teacher for that poem. because the poem said everything ture about this land of free. i am it, my history teacher gave out in class. isn't it funny that they didn't want that poem to be read by anyone but it all over the online even i posted it in a forum. it is far excellent that one can think of. title "revolution X" check this out, if you can find it. you guys will love it.

Wonderful information and explanation. I just the poem but didn't read it yet. Hope to read it tonight. Some way, I feel enlighten due to my back ground and culture. Though we are losing it. Young generation (15-25) don't like to read history, folk musics, country musics, bengali novels. Forget about Hegel or Helvitus or Denis. Cable TV, funky musics and drugs are killing every innocent soul. Only schools, colleges and universities can save those. But they're not doing their jobs rightfully. As a result we're becoming a bomination of a culture which has no direction towards rightness. I still believe that we can do something, if we want to. And everybody should try to do that. A revolution is very much needed-a philosophical and mental revolution.

i think you can say those again.

i think it too. people are too ignorant or rather they fear the changes. they think they will lose what they have if they read or go into something else. i don't understand this though. to me the more i read, the more knowledge grow. as the singer said, i read i know and it helps my knowledge grow.

the points you made are very true. people don't want to read and know all these stuffs you mentioned. i think it is because they are already lost with there field and how much it has so they don't want to bother with other stuffs for they might burst out and lose everything.
i guess

i don't know. i would love to know this world and discover it and unfold it.
some of us are just dealing with one brance and they think it is the greatest and lost with it.

ignorance and rejection to learn that is what is leading us to hell. we don't know and therefore we are intolerable with others and behave in such a nasty and crule manners and so on. if we just tried to know each other things would have been better and we could work and make peace
but forget it

oh! do you know that IQ test is just poffing out on the screen now. i saw it few times but i didn't bother with it. i read one question but it was kind of silly. make up a # with another one, like a baby test or what.
i would like to know the test though that's what i am thinking now. want to see that IQ test.

Haha....!!! So you want to taste the test. Have fun. Though I think it's wasting time. It's better if you just get a ice-cream, sit and enjoy it. As an example, I like to focus the current situation of Bangladesh. It's really horible. Everybody is afraid and there is a breakdown of normal life cycle. Why people are doing these things? Just they're frustrated and don't know what they should do to mark their way of life. Why this things are happening? They don't know or have much idea about philosophy of life or moto of life. I feel so sad cause, we're killing our mother nature (world) so slowly, though she is crying out for our salvation. Point is how far she will bear it.
We basically need to introduce philosophy and psychology as compulsury subjects from school to university. So, students will learn to questions. And will be able to judge their own actions. What you think?

you know what i think, i just simply think we should slap on the face of those stupidest people who are making our dear motherland so horrible and terrible. i just feel like slapping on the face of those stupidest people who started that bombing thing and now people are crazy all over the country. who is better? none of them like in here karrey and bush. both sees each other faults cearly but none each himself faults. just terrible. same goes to those two ladies back there. i think. it is like a family arguement. you said i am bad, i said back to you and then you slapped me so did i do. and this is the thing going on in bangladesh between those two ladies' groups.
one stupid bomb and you know what other one did, the started to take of the line of trains when it was in motion, what a terrible and horrible thing to do. who is better you tell me?
none of them. if these family type fighting goes on back there, the land will be done in no time. and we, the normal people in the middle will have a terrible lovely summer time.
isn't that sweet little sunday pie haa!! for us all to eat?

really i am very upset about those things. we shouldnt' just fight all the time without looking for the criminal, we should kill who killed not making the life of normal people more terrible and horrible.

why don't they question? they just believe anyone since they are in a good possion or rich. who cares about that? we need honest people who will do justice not unjust things, we need people who are patient and calm who will give a thought and will work in calm way that will bring peace instead of horrible unjust blood.

that's all i think. just look all over the world, it is like everything is going down at the same time. no where on earth there is peace and justice at all. i don't see a single country living in peace and doing something perfectly really. if you see, tell me about it. i want to know really.
